The start point for the best source of fleet information

Third ICFM masterclass to focus on big data

Date: 11 July 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

The Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM) has announced that its third 'masterclass' event will focus on how big data is changing the face of the industry.

Set to be held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham on 3 October, the session will analyse the changing fleet landscape, while also discussing how the information can help managers save money.

The free event will also feature speakers outlining how technology is reinventing corporate travel management.

Speakers include:

  • ICFM chairman Paul Hollick, managing director of mileage audit and fuel expense management company the Miles Consultancy.
  • Justin Whitston, chief executive of Fleetondemand, the developers of Mobilleo, an online platform that combines all modes of business travel ? company cars, rental cars and other forms of corporate travel including planes and trains ?into one mobility solution designed to reduce both journey costs and administration.
  • ICFM director Martin Evans, managing director of Jaama, a fleet and asset management software company.

The ICFM said its 'masterclass' events are designed to tackle big issues facing fleet managers. Previous subjects include tax changes to salary sacrifice schemes and occupational road risk.

"It is vital that ICFM highlights how the fleet and business travel sectors are converging within the mobility arena," said Hollick. "Technology and the arrival of 'big data' is behind that transformation, which is being driven by motor manufacturers, contract hire and leasing companies, and business travel providers."

He added: "The traditional fleet manager role of managing vehicles and drivers is over ?or at least coming to an end ?and the age of the mobility manager is arriving. Our third ICFM 'masterclass' will point the way forward for fleet decision-makers and explain how technology and 'big data' will drive efficiencies across corporate travel. We are at the start of a new era ?mobility management ? and it is one fleet decision-makers must embrace."
