Thrifty announces new chairman and managing director

Date: 23 October 2017

Thrifty has confirmed that on 1 January 2018 Roger Hancock, managing director at Thrifty UK, will assume the role of chairman, taking over from Nigel Spokes, who will become a non-executive director while remaining the principal shareholder.

Meanwhile, Martin Wilson, currently sales director of Hyundai Motor UK, will join the business as managing director, reporting directly to Hancock.

Hancock commented: "These are exciting times for Thrifty. The business is growing exponentially and we have taken this opportunity to further develop and strengthen our senior management team by bringing Martin on board. Martin brings a wealth of sales and operational experience with him, which fits strategically with our continued expansion.

"Martin will be supported by myself and our hugely experienced senior management team comprising Peter Granados, Alison Chadwick, Caroline Gallagher, Linda Malliff, Elliot Scott and Steve Sandford.

"As the largest privately owned rental company in the UK today - with circa 2000 people in our employ, the most aspirational fleet in the industry and the highest standards of customer service among our peers - we are hugely excited about the opportunities and possibilities ahead."
