Zenith is the highest-ranked fleet company in the annual Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250, which lists the UK's most successful mid-sized private companies.

The Leeds-based firm was ranked number 42 in the table, which featured a large number of car retail groups.

Commenting on the recognition, Zenith chief executive Tim Buchan (pictured) said: "The team works incredibly hard to provide industry-leading levels of customer service. And it's a focus on the customer that continues to drive our growth. It is proving to be a landmark year for everyone at Zenith with the acquisition of CVL and move to our new headquarters in Leeds."

Norwich-based dealer Robinsons Motor Group and the Westover Group in Bournemouth  ranked 44th and 54th respectively, while the Eastern Motor Group based in West Lothian charted in 20th position.

Salary sacrifice provider Tusker came in at 184, while supercar manufacturers McLaren Automotive and Aston Martin appeared in the top ten.

Between them, the Top Track 250 generated combined sales of £62.4 billion, the equivalent of 3.2% of GDP, according to The Times, employing 380,000 people across the UK.

In January Zenith was sold to private equity company Bridgepoint for £750 million and recently announced the appointment of Lord Rose as its chairman. Lord Rose has over 40 years' experience in the consumer and retail sectors during which time he served as chief executive at Argos plc, Booker plc, Arcadia Group plc and Marks and Spencer plc.
