Toyota has confirmed full details of the hatchback and Touring Sports estate versions of its new Corolla small family car.

For both models, four trim options are available - Icon, Icon Tech, Design and Excel.

Standard equipment with Icon trim includes automatic LED headlights, heated front seats with lumbar support, an 8in touchscreen, a 2in TFT information display and a reversing camera.

Stepping up to Icon Tech trim adds sat-nav, a 7in TFT display, parking sensors and intelligent park assist.

Design cars get extra kit like rain-sensing wipers, power adjustable heated door mirrors, an auto-rimming rear-view mirror and LED front fog lights.

Range-topping Excel trim adds equipment including 18in alloy wheels, bi-LED headlights, sports front seats and part-leather seat upholstery.

Across the range, the second generation Toyota Safety Sense package is standard, including autonomous emergency braking which can detect pedestrians in both day and night driving conditions, and cyclists during the day.

Also included are adaptive cruise control, lane trace assist, road sign assist and automatic high-beam.

Both the hatchback and estate Corollas come with a choice of three engines - a 1.2-litre, 115hp petrol; and 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre petrol hybrids with 121hp and 180hp respectively.

The petrol engine comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the hybrids come with a CVT automatic.

Hatchback prices start at £21,300 for a petrol Icon and rise to £29,070 for an Excel 2.0-litre hybrid. Estate prices start at £22,570 and rise to £30,340 for the same specs.

Pre-orders are open now ahead of the model's sales launch in March.

The new Corolla will also be available as a saloon, and Toyota says prices and specs for this version will be announced in the new year.
