Mercedes-Benz E-Class diesel plug-in hybrid goes on sale

A new diesel plug-in hybrid version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is now available to order.

The new powertrain will come with either saloon or estate bodystyles, badged E 300 de.

It combines a 2.0-litre, 194hp diesel engine with a 122hp electric motor, to achieve an official combined fuel economy of 166.2mpg, and CO2 emissions of 41g/km in the saloon, and 44g/km in the estate.

The 13.5kWh battery can be charged from 10% to 100% in less than two hours with a 7.4kW charger, and allows a fully electric range of 34 miles for the saloon, and 32 miles for the estate.

Two trim levels are available - SE and AMG Line.

Prices are £47,700 for the SE saloon, £50,195 for the AMG Line saloon, £49,700 for the SE estate, and £52,195 for the AMG Line estate.

The first deliveries are expected to arrive in spring 2019.
