Leaseplan announces new UK managing director

Date: 22 October 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Leaseplan has announced the appointment of a new UK managing director.

Alfonso Martinez (pictured), currently the firm's managing director in Italy, will take on the role.

He replaces Matt Dyer, who has been appointed as president and chief executive officer of Leaseplan USA.

The changes come into effect on 1 January.

Martinez, whose appointment is subject to FCA approval, has worked for Leaseplan since 2006.

He was previously chief financial officer for the firm's operation in Spain, and has held his current position since 2012.

He said: "Leading the UK business is an exciting prospect, and I look forward to taking on this role from January.

"The UK and Italian businesses share considerable synergies, thanks to our significant indirect and direct business success.

"The plans for the business moving forward can only propel us further as a company. I am confident that the future for Leaseplan is bright and I am pleased that I can take a further leading role in it."

Dyer has worked for Leaseplan for more than 20 years, spending more than four and a half years leading the UK business.

He said: "The changes at the top of our business highlight the power of 'One Leaseplan'. We are one business, not defined by geography or borders.

"We welcome Alfonso to the UK business and look forward to working closely with him over the coming months.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as managing director of the UK business and I wish Alfonso the very best in his new role."
