BMW has revealed its new, fourth-generation X5 SUV, which goes on sale in the UK later this month.
Compared with the outgoing model, the new X5 is 36mm longer, 66mm wider and 19mm taller, with a wheelbase extended by 42mm.
There is a choice of one petrol and two diesel engines, all of which displace 3.0-litres.
The petrol produces 340hp, with provisional combined fuel economy of 33.2mpg and provisional CO2 emissions of 193g/km.
The diesels produce 265hp and 400hp; respective figures are 47.1mpg and 158g/km for the former, and 41.5mpg and 179g/km for the latter.
An eight-speed automatic gearbox is standard across the range, as is four-wheel drive.
Interior technology includes a 12.3in instrument display and a 12.3in control display, with the latter operational as a touchscreen, through an iDrive touch controller, or with steering wheel controls, voice control or gesture control.
There's an adaptive sat-nav system, with the map now able to be partly displayed in the instrument display.
The boot has a capacity of 645 litres, rising to a maximum of 1,860 litres, and is accessed via a two-section tailgate. A third row of seats is optional.
An optional Driving Assistant Professional pack includes active cruise control with stop and go, traffic jam assist, lane keep assist, lane change warning, rear cross traffic warning, rear end collision warning and speed limit information.
Parking Assistant is fitted as standard, allowing the car to automatically select and park in a parallel parking space, as is Reversing Assistant, which controls the steering to manoeuvre the car back along a path it has recently negotiated forwards, helping with reversing out of parking spaces or manoeuvring in tight areas.
Prices start from £56,710 for X5s with the 265hp diesel engine, rising to £58,100 for petrol-engined cars and £70,690 for the most powerful diesel.
