New BMW X7 revealed

Date: 17 October 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

BMW has unveiled its X7 - a new flagship model for its SUV range.

It will become the largest SUV made by the firm at more than five metres long.

It will offer seating for seven across three rows, although as an option the three-seat bench that forms the second row can be replaced with two individual ones.

Boot capacity is 326 litres with all seats up, but can rise to 2,120 litres with the second and third rows folded down.

Standard technology will include the BMW Live Cockpit Professional infotainment set up, which pairs a 12.3in control display with a 12.3in digital instrument cluster; and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, which responds to the voice command 'Hey BMW'.

Other standard equipment includes a three-part panoramic glass roof, and four-zone climate control - with a five-zone system optional.

Three engine options will be available at launch. The xDrive30d will come with a 265hp diesel engine, the xDrive40i will have a 340hp petrol, and the M50d will have a 400hp diesel.

Provisional combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions are 43.5mpg and 171g/km for the xDrive30d, 32.5mpg and 198g/km for the xDrive40i, and 40.4mpg and 185g/km for the M50d.

All models come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive.

The X7's ride height can be raised by up to 40mm for off-road driving, and the M50d can also be lowered 20mm to improve handling.

The X7 will go on sale in April 2019, with prices starting from £72,155 for the xDrive30d, rising to £74,155 for the xDrive40i and £87,240 for the M50d.
