Newmotion reveals next generation EV charger

Date: 17 October 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

A new electric vehicle (EV) charger has been launched by Newmotion, with functions including the transfer of energy between EV batteries and commercial premises.

The V2X (vehicle-to-everything) charger is an advancement on the previous vehicle-to-grid charger.

Developed with eNovates and PRE Power Developers, V2X means power can not only be returned to the energy grid, but to a home or office as well.

The manufacturer says the charger is small and easy to install, while also delivering rapid response times.

Newmotion business development director Sander Ouwerkerk said: "We see that Nissan and Mitsubishi are real pioneers of V2X technology at present, and we wanted to make the bi-directional possibilities that their cars offer, usable for everyone.

"Newmotion is therefore proud to make this V2X service available for commercial purposes. It is a perfect addition to the 360-degree service that we already offer in the field of smart charging.

"With the V2X device, this reaches full service, from installation and maintenance to delivering energy. With our services, electric cars can thus play an even greater role in the use of renewable energy by temporarily storing (sustainable) electricity in the battery of cars."
