Upgrades revealed for revised Minis

Date: 12 January 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Facelifted versions of the Mini three-door and five-door hatchbacks and Convertible have been revealed.

Changes for the new cars include new front and rear LED lights as standard, with the option of an adaptive Matrix system that automatically adjusts brightness to cater for different road conditions.

Also standard is a 6.5in colour infotainment screen and new multifunction steering wheel, while Mini Navigation and Apple CarPlay, and Mini Connected services including real-time traffic information and concierge service, are optional.

Also now available as an option is a seven-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch and electronic shift selector.

In terms of appearance, there's a new Mini logo, new body finishes and alloy wheel designs, an extended range of leather trim, three new paint colours, and a Piano Black exterior pack featuring headlight, rear light and radiator grille surrounds finished in black instead of chrome.

Also available are Mini Yours Customised parts, allowing drivers to design their own accessories through a specially designed online shop due to launch in 2018, with the parts then manufactured using techniques including 3D printing and laser engraving.

Engine developments have been applied across the board, including carbon fibre reinforced plastic engine covers, while the capacity of the three-cylinder petrol engine in Mini One trim has been increased to 1.5-litres.

The facelifted Minis will be available in the UK from 17 March.
