Volvo XC60 wins UK Car of the Year

Date: 23 February 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

The Volvo XC60 has been named UK Car of the Year 2018.

The SUV was one of 13 cars shortlisted for the award as winners in individual categories.

After a tightly fought judging process, the XC60 beat the Skoda Kodiaq to the crown by a single point. The BMW 5 Series finished third.

Jon Wakefield, Volvo's UK managing director, said: "Winning both the overall UK Car of the Year and Best Medium Crossover awards is a fantastic achievement for Volvo.

"The awards reflect the desirability and sophistication of the XC60, and the elegant Scandinavian design, cutting-edge technology and luxurious equipment levels have proved a big hit with customers."

The awards, established in 2014, are supported by Cox Automotive and the jury is made up of 27 leading motoring journalists, including BusinessCar editor Debbie Wood.
