Britain's fastest speeder jailed for 10 weeks

Date: 25 September 2007

Former Helphire delivery driver Tim Brady has been jailed for ten weeks after admitting dangerous driving.

Brady was clocked doing 172mph on the A420 in Oxfordshire in a Porsche 911 Turbo that he had reportedly borrowed without permission from the hire firm. He was also given a three-year driving ban for the offence, which took place in January. Brady quit Helphire after the incident.

The offence, the fastest speed ever recorded by the police, beats the previous high of 156mph recorded by a BMW driver in Scotland.
