Audi A4 joins low CO2 'e' range

Date: 03 October 2008

Audi has added a low-CO2 A4 to its 'e' range that already includes the A3e and A6e.

Revealed at the Paris show this week in saloon form an estate version is expected to follow.

The A4e is capable of 70.8mpg and has a CO2 output of 105g/km thanks to an ultra efficient 120PS 2.0-litre diesel. Alongside the economy figures the car is also capable of 0-62mph in 10.7 seconds and has a top speed of 128mph.

Although badged a concept it is understood the production version slated for 2009 will broadly replicate these figures.

The impressive efficiency figures have been achieved thanks to stop-start technology, brake energy regeneration, a lowered ride height and low-rolling resistance tyres.
