Fleet sales down 28,000 units on previous year
Date:
08 January 2007
The fleet market took a total of 1,156,274 cars in 2006, 2.4% or 28,600 units less than in 2005.
Company car sales once more propped up the market, with the overall figure for new registrations down 3.9% year-on-year and the private sales down 5.3%. Unsurprisingly, December was 19.3% down on the previous year thanks to 2005's massive spike caused by changes to the benefit-in-kind tax on diesels.
Those having a good year included Fiat, Peugeot, Audi and Hyundai, while Jaguar, Chevrolet, Volvo and Renault headed in the opposite direction.
