Mitsubishi L200: One Minute Test Drive Review

Date: 07 May 2010   |   Author: Tristan Young

What's new: Range topping pick-up from Mitsubishi in double-cab format with 2.5 diesel engine and five-speed automatic gearbox.

Excellent: This is a seriously well-equipped pick-up with iPod connection, satnav, aircon, cruise control, reversing camera and exterior kit including alloy wheels, side-steps and a good dose of chrome.

Good: The 175hp 2.5-litre diesel engine in this Mitsubishi L200 is never short on power and even sounds good - thanks to old-school turbo noises.

Average: Like the turbo, the pick-up's automatic gearbox is also a bit on the old-school side and is only at its best when in manual select mode.

Poor: While having satnav is always a plus, the Mitsubishi system, integrated with the stereo, is utterly confusing to fathom, and has buttons that are too small to read or use.

Verdict: It's a pick-up that is almost as day-to-day useable as a car, and is good value too.
