Awards 2012 - Remarketing: BCA

Date: 24 January 2012

Auction house BCA has reported that petrol values are holding their value better than diesels

Longtime readers won't be at all surprised to see BCA in its regular winning spot. This is the auction company's 17th win in this category, but they haven't been consecutive, as arch rival Manheim butted in for 2010.

The firm's online sales continue to gain more and more ground. In November it announced an 11% year-on-year rise and it had exceeded the 100,000 mark for the second consecutive year, only this time a month earlier.

BCA's commercial director D'Vidis Jacobs said: "BCA has taken nearly two million Live Online bids from professional buyers this year to date, an increase of around 18%. The number of individual trade buyers regularly using BCA's online selling channels also continues to grow, year on year." Although physical auctions remain in good health, Jacobs said online sales would soon account for 20% of all of BCA's sales.

Keen to move with the times, the company staged the UK's first ever hybrid-only auction at its headquarters in Surrey in December. A month prior to that, it launched BCA Assured - a scheme that sees cars under eight years old with less than 120,000 miles eligible for a 30-point mechanical inspection by an independent motoring firm prior to its sale.
