There was only one firm in the top 25 that saw significant growth this year, and that was Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions.
Hitachi grew its fleet 17% to hit more than 36,500 vehicles, up 5000 on 2008 thanks in part to the acquisition of a dual-control car company with a fleet of 3500 driving instructor cars. An Hitachi spokesman said: "Through these turbulent times we've experienced an uptake in the number of vehicle extensions across all sectors, while continuing to win new business. This is further boosted by the acquisition of the Driving Instructor Centre."
