Which car rental company provides the best service? We acted as a potential business car customer and discovered that while some firms were excellent, several left a lot to be desired. Tom Webster reports

10. Apex 32%

Apex scored poorly in all areas other than services offered, and was not helped by the fact that it has no hybrids on the books.

No hybrids, carbon-offsetting or city cars - all contribute to a low score in every category for 1Car1.

8. Thrifty 44%

In the absence of a specific carbon-offsetting scheme, Thrifty is aiming to cut emissions by positioning dealerships in areas of greatest demand.
