Our Fleet Test Drive: Skoda Superb - 5th report

Date: 15 March 2016   |   Author: Tristan Young

The process for entering postcodes for the Superb's satnav takes at least four too many button presses, compared with systems from rival brands.

Firstly, once you've pressed the postcode button, you immediately have to press the 'ABC' button - yet all postcodes start with a letter.

Then, once you've selected the letters and switched to '123' for the numbers, you need to select 'ABC' to reach the space bar, then press '123' again before entering the last number, then 'ABC' to reach the final letters. We've come across this with other VW Group products before, but it's yet to be improved. When a car is as good in every other area as the Skoda is, then the tiny things do wind me up just that little bit.

Verdict

  • Styling
  • Practicality
  • Refinement
  • Lots of clicks needed to silence the nav
