HMRC has updated the rate to be used for the reimbursement of electric company car charging at public chargers, less than a week after it was initially announced.
The Advisory Electricity Rate (AER) for public charging, which was originally going to be 12p per mile from 1 September, will now be 14p.
The home charging rate of 8p is unchanged from last week’s announcement, as are the updated AFR rates for combustion-engined cars.
The division of home and public charging rates is a new policy by HMRC – previously a single flat AER was applied.
