April sees fleet sales rise 5%

Ford S-max

Fleet car sales in April continued the upward trend for 2007. Total sales hit 86,068 vehicles, up 4.9% on April 2006's total of 82,082 cars.

The year-to-date figures were also up, at 412,933 units a 4.8% increase on the first four months of last year.

Strengthening its market leading position, Ford saw a 12% rise in April, helping it reach 8.5% growth for the year-to-date. Growth came mainly from the firm's range of MPVs - the C-max, BusinessCar Awards winning S-max and Galaxy.

Audi, Honda, VW and Toyota have all seen growth of 15% or more for the year to April, with BusinessCar Awards winning Audi up an impressive 37%.

Best performing of the top 10 individual models this month was the Fiat Punto, with an 86% rise and the VW Golf with a 37% hike in registrations putting it in third place after the Focus and Astra.
