The start point for the best source of fleet information

Best Supermini - Mini Cooper

Date: 24 January 2007

Ever since the new Mini was launched in 2002 it has scooped our award for best supermini - which means this year's first place gives it a total of five BusinessCar Awards.

The Mini also takes the win with one of the biggest voting majorities, polling nearly double the votes of its nearest rival.

The Mini has been so successful because it has conquered the fleet market with high residual values, low running costs and low fuel bills, and has been a hit with all drivers - be they user-choosers or essential users.

The Mini's cheeky image and excellent driving experience means private motorists can't get enough of it. The result? RVs are pushed even higher as those buying the car second-hand clamour to get hold of them.

In 2006 BMW, who build the Mini, introduced a new version of the 'new' Mini and rightly didn't mess with the styling, but they did respond to a few criticisms. The 2006 Mini is now a bit larger, offering a much-needed increase in rear leg room and has a range of cleaner engines - always welcomed by benefit-in-kind paying drivers.
