Awards 2009 - Mini-MPV: Volkswagen Touran

This category was incredibly close this year with any one of three vehicles in the running until the final few days of voting.

Although the car is in the latter stages of its life, the mini-MPV based on the underpinnings of the (recently replaced) mk5 Golf has had a recent facelift and even more recently gained a low-CO2, tax-beating Bluemotion model. Emitting just 144g/km of CO2 the Touran Bluemotion, powered by a 105PS 1.9-litre TDI engine, is also capable of 52.3mpg, making it one of the most efficient seven-seat cars available in the UK today.

Fleets were also impressed by the VW staples of high build quality and reliability as well as rock-solid residuals, all of which add up to give impressive running costs coupled to driver desirability - just what every business car manager wants. Couple this to 50 possible seating layouts and 39 storage compartments and you have an award-winning mini-MPV.
