The start point for the best source of fleet information

Awards 2010 - Large 4x4: BMW X5

Date: 26 January 2010

X5

BMW is back on top in this category, which it has taken twice before with the previous version of the mighty X5.

Now in its third year, the current X5 continues to be a favourite in the large 4x4 market. The majority of business sales in this sector are not on traditional lease policies and are often bought outright by company directors. But despite the tough business year, registrations have remained stable - impressive for any £40,000-plus car.

Within the past 12 months BMW has offered a special edition of its popular X5 to mark the range's 10-year production milestone. The xDrive35d 10-Year Edition comes with metallic grey paint, 20-inch alloy wheels, matt aluminium exterior trim, aluminium roof rails and panoramic glass sunroof. Inside it gets anthracite headlining, full leather upholstery and BMW piano black trim.

Since it was introduced to the UK in 2000, BMW has sold 62,872 X5s to fleet and retail, with diesel-powered versions being the most popular models, now accounting for approximately 95% of registrations.
