The start point for the best source of fleet information

Awards 2011 - Large 4x4: BMW X5

Date: 25 January 2011

The seventh and final 2011 BusinessCar Award heading over to BMW's Bracknell headquarters is for the large 4x4 category, which is taken by the X5.

The big off-roader was revised in June 2010, trimming emissions, upgrading standard equipment and revising the exterior with redesigned front and rear bumpers and rear light cluster, and enlarged tail pipes.

The entry 30d engine enjoyed a power increase of 10% to 245hp and an emissions cut by the same amount, to 195g/km, while the 35d engine was replaced by a 306hp 40d unit that also scrapes under 200g/km. Spec-wise, the X5's popularity was enhanced by leather becoming standard across the range, along with Xenon headlamps.

This is the fourth triumph in this category for the X5, twice with the first generation off-roader, and now twice with the current model, which actually increased its fleet registrations year-on-year in 2009, despite the mid-year revision.
