The start point for the best source of fleet information

Awards 2011 - Leasing and Fleet Management: Lex Autolease

Date: 25 January 2011

After winning the honour of Service Supplier of the Year, one of the headline prizes in the BusinessCar Awards, Lex Autolease has also claimed the accolade for leasing and fleet management.

Despite downsizing its fleet over the past year, thanks to an exit from "business lines acquired in previous heritage companies", Lex Autolease, which is the final stages of its integration following the merger of Lloyds TSB and HBOS banks, is still by far the largest leasing company in the industry with a fleet of 307,133 vehicles, compared with the second largest player, Leaseplan, which comes in with 123,883.

As this award demonstrates, the newly formed company has progressed well, under the watchful eye of managing director Nigel Stead. By mid 2011, Stead will depart and operations director Rick Francis (pictured) will take over at the helm. This, combined with ongoing fleet reductions - expected to take vehicle numbers below 300,000 - and the introduction of a salary sacrifice scheme, will make next year an interesting one for the leasing giant.

In the meantime, congratulations are in order for keeping hold of the award for the second year - with Lex and Lloyds TSB Autolease both having won this award prior to the merger - and for proving that biggest can also be best.
