BusinessCar Awards 2013 - Upper Medium: BMW 3-series

Date: 22 January 2013

New car, same result. Already the recipient of BusinessCar's top Business Car of the Year Award, the 3-series is also crowned our Upper Medium Car of the Year for the fourth time in a row.

The new 3-series was launched almost a year ago, and picked up where its predecessor left off in terms of outpointing its rivals for driving enjoyment and efficiency, with the addition of an auto Efficient Dynamics version one of the key low-emissions moves, coming in alongside the manual version at 109g/km: that's a 163hp upper medium saloon that's more efficient than many smaller and less powerful rival models.

The range expanded through 2012 with new engines, and BMW claims its wider trim levels are being taken up well by the industry, with Modern, Sport and Luxury adding to the traditional ES, SE and M-sport.

A new Touring model launched in the final quarter of 2012 to join the saloon, and offers the claimed largest load space in its class as well as standard kit including a powered tailgate across the range.
