A growth industry needs sacrifice

The leasing industry has seen growth of 7.5% this year and much of that increase can be attributed to the popularity of salary sacrifice schemes.

Ogilvie delayed introducing its own salary sacrifice product as sales and marketing director Nick Hardy wanted to make sure the business could deliver something unique and specialised for its target audience of firms with about 1000 employees.

Hardy says: "Salary sacrifice is a fairly sophisticated product and it's not as simple as the wider market would have customers believe.

"We've always said that if we launch something, we want to do it properly."

Employers are looking to schemes such as salary sacrifice to offer employees a better package of benefits, including a car with everything taken care of as part of their job role. It's also gained a boost from companies offering it to grey fleet drivers to get them out of their own vehicles.

Hardy admits Tusker is the market leader in salary sacrifice and that while Ogilvie will launch its own product in the first quarter next year, it won't become the mainstay of the firm's business.
