1 What was your first job?
Dairy herdsman in West Sussex. Strange, I know, but it seemed the obvious path as a job for life.
2 What was your first company car, and what do you drive now?
A Vauxhall Astra diesel was my first company car, and now, after driving hundreds of cars, I’ve hit perfection with a Golf GTD.
3 What did you listen to on your last car journey?
U2’s The Joshua Tree. This is my favourite for long journeys as the miles just melt away.
4 What one thing do you wish you could do better?
DIY. I really cannot do anything except paint and hang shelves, but I guess knowing your weaknesses is the best route to success.
5 What’s your biggest achievement?
Developing Ridgeway Training into its current position in West Sussex. We are now the most approachable training company in Sussex.
6 What are your three favourite films?
The Right Stuff, Ronin and The Wolf Of Wall Street. Jordan Belfort [the real-life Wolf of Wall Street] learned from his mistakes and now is a massive success and a person I admire.
7 What’s the stupidest thing you’ve done?
Tasted beer.
8 What was the most hotly debated topic at your last meeting?
Brexit. Wow, that did explode.
9 What would be your specialist subject on Mastermind?
Drivers’ hours and tachographs. No one can beat me on this.
10 What’s the worst thing about your job?
The day ending.
11 What one law would you make or change?
The motorway speed limit – why is it still at 70mph? This really needs revisiting as most cars are on
tick-over at this speed with the ability to halve the predicted stopping distance.
12 What did you want to be when you grew up?
A fighter pilot.
13 Who is your ideal celebrity date?
Actress and director Jodie Foster. So successful, and doesn’t see the need to be anything but pleasant.
