Highly Commended: Chevin – FleetWave
It’s a win for CFC solutions, with the firm’s Fleet Plus system showing itself as the most impressive entry in the fleet management category.
CFC claims the system is used by around half of the UK’s 100 biggest fleets, including Alliance & Leicester, BSkyB, Balfour Beatty and Fujitsu Telecommunications, and that more than 140,000 vehicles in the UK are currently managed through it.
Fleet Plus is able to import data from what CFC claims are “potentially dozens of sources” such as fuel card providers and payroll systems, and works using a set of pre-determined key performance indicators, only flagging up problems such as mpg targets not being met or drivers ignoring a licence check request. The fleet manager doesn’t need to keep requesting the information because the system is automatic, and can focus on the exceptions and issues in the fleet thrown up by the programme.
Other elements the system includes are vehicle procurement, SMR planning, accident management, short-term rental and fuel management, as well as details of a driver’s history.
To aid a fleet’s risk management, CFC’s system will track individual’s car servicing frequency and fuel consumption to indicate which drivers could require more training or even be the biggest accident risks.
Fleet Plus also enables the set up of key performance indicators depending on their individual priorities, including a carbon footprint report for those with serious environmental goals.
The Highly Commended award went to Chevin’s Fleetwave. It was, according to the company, the world’s first internet-based fleet management system when it was launched in 2001, and as it’s designed to run online, Fleetwave does not need specific software to be installed, so can be accessed from any computer with web access. This enables field-based drivers to log-in from home and submit expenses and fuel mileage claims, and access controlled areas of the site for information and advice.
