The start point for the best source of fleet information

Licence checking conundrum

Date: 31 October 2007

Tristan Young is Editor-in-chief of BusinessCar

Investigating the EU licence checking (BusinessCar.co.uk/licencecheck) story threw up a scary fact. It's not just fleets that can't check licences - the police, too, are unable to check a foreign driving licence if they stop a driver at the side of the road.

The Association for Chief Police Officers said that although there was an EU agreement to supply information to fill a database for checking lorries, only the UK, Germany and Holland complied.

If you've had any problems with this I'd love to hear from you - particularly if you have any possible solutions. Contact me through BusinessCar.co.uk/licencecheck.
