We don't normally change the score of a car once we've written the test drive, however. in the case of the Toyota Avensis we're going to make an exception.

When we first drove the car we did not have the cost per mile figures, because we didn't know which version we'd be driving. KwikCarcost have now sent through the costs for the Avensis 2.0 D-4D saloon in TR trim, together with the competitor costs. And quite frankly we're impressed.

So impressed in fact that we've moved the car from a 7/10 to an 8/10.

At 40.8 pence per mile, the Avensis is almost 5ppm cheaper to run than the equivalent VW Passat.

Congratulations and happy Christmas to Toyota.
