As ever, the BusinessCar Awards are perfectly timed to lift some of the January doom and gloom, and this year we have a couple of new names to go alongside some reoccurring companies whose success this year once more highlights excellence in their field.

We tweaked the Green Car of the Year category to only offer a choice of cars of 75g/km or below, lining our award up with what's increasingly looking like the Government's current definition of what constitutes an ultra-low-CO2 car.

We have also added a new category for the first time in several years, reflecting the growing corporate market significance of the crossover segment.

The overall Business Car of the Year title, awarded to the model voted as the best new car launched in the past 12 months, was as predictable as it was deserved, and won't come as a huge shock to anyone that has taken a good look at the cover of our new issue, published today.

Without ruining the surprise for those that haven't guessed it, there are few cars more aspirational and perfectly well-rounded for the corporate arena.

We also celebrate one company that has now dominated its sector for an unprecedented 20 years straight, which is a phenomenal achievement.

I'd like to offer my personal thanks to all those that took the time to vote. These awards are chosen by you, the readers of BusinessCar and www.businesscar.co.uk.

We hand them out to the winners, but, unique to the industry, they're chosen entirely by the fleet market at large, which makes them particularly valuable.
