It feels like I write the same thing every year, but the quality and quantity of entries for the 2012 Techies has again surpassed anything we’ve seen before.
The only specific fleet technology awards continue to go from strength to strength, and deciding on the winners and those worthy of highly commended status was a rather drawn out task, with several categories so close they were repeatedly put to the bottom of the pile in the hope of a flash of inspiration to split many equally worthy entries.
Some were more clear-cut, where a company is clearly out on their own in a field, but almost without exception there were a handful of entries that we would have been comfortable branding as winner.
So to those that haven’t succeeded as they had hoped, it doesn’t reflect badly on you, but reflects well on the depth and quality of the industry on a widespread scale.
The level of innovation in different areas of the UK business car market continually impresses, but is necessary for those at the forefront to keep themselves there. Entries that would have eased to a victory a couple of years ago, or even in 2011, have been surpassed by the pace of development and progress.
So, despite the difficult judging process, it’s been a pleasure to reward those firms we feel are doing the best job of using technology to help make the operation of fleet management easier, cheaper, greener and safer.
Well done to all the deserved winners, and better luck in 2013 to the increasing number of entries not lucky enough to bag a BusinessCar Techie.
