I was asked by BusinessCar a few months ago if I could help judge the entries for the BusinessCar Techies which I was delighted to do. As someone who has a passion for automotive technology this opportunity was right up my street. As you will have read the results have recently been released and many congratulations to the winners and highly commended organisations. In any competition it’s always difficult to pick a winner and with the number of entries received it became even more challenging.
I was also very impressed by the quality of entries and it was great to be able to see the number of uses that technology is being used for to make our live easier and safer. If you think about how many lives have been saved through the use of technology in vehicles it must be a huge amount. It’s good to see how technology can have such a positive enhancement on our lives. All of these initiatives cost a huge amount of both money and time so it’s hopefully a worthwhile coo for the winners that their innovation has been recognised by BusinessCar.
I remember, a few years ago, when I was selling cars, a driver’s air bag was an optional extra and I was impressed with the idea of side impact bars being standard. That idea sounds bizarre nowadays but it shows how much our expectations have shifted in terms of safety items.
However much we love or hate technology its here to stay and will only increasingly dominate our motoring experiences. Don’t worry too much though because for the time being drivers are still required!
