The start point for the best source of fleet information

BusinessCar Awards 2014 - Leasing/Fleet Management: Alphabet

Date: 28 January 2014

A third successive triumph for the UK's third-largest leasing business has a degree of symmetry about it.

Adding to its Service Supplier of the Year prize, Alphabet has completed the hat-trick in this category by again retaining the BusinessCar Leasing and Fleet Management Award.

It was a big year for the company, with the launch of its Alpha Electric programme to help push electric vehicles towards more fleets where they would be suitable.

Alphabet's chief commercial officer Paul Hollick (pictured) has described 2014 as the year when fleets "finally switch on to alternative fuels", when the current level of incentives combine with the introduction of "practical and desirable EV models from respected and trusted mainstream automotive brands" to create a stronger adoption of electric vehicles.

The BMW-owned leasing company also reported increased corporate car confidence last year, with its latest Fleet Management Report showing a third of business car operators expected to manage more vehicles in 2013, which is 50% higher than 12 months earlier.

In total, 81% expected their fleets to be at least the same size as 2013, providing, Hollick feels, a barometer, for the economy.

"Fleets take decisions with the next three-to-five years in mind," he said. "They reflect the confidence of the organisations they serve."
