BusinessCar Awards 2014 - Mini-MPV: Vauxhall Zafira Tourer

Date: 28 January 2014

This year sees a completely new winner in the Mini-MPV category: the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer. Most recently, the title has been fought out between last year's winner, the Volkswagen Touran, and the Ford C-max, but the more up-to-date Vauxhall has proved a hit with BusinessCar readers.

For starters, it can seat seven, where the Ford can only accommodate five, but it's the Zafira's versatility that gives the edge over the C-max, the Touran and any other small MPV for that matter.

The tradition of multi-purpose Flex7 seating was a trend set by the original Zafira, and the latest Tourer advances that even further.

Heavy seats that you had to manually lift out (which were advanced and practical on earlier versions) have given way to light, sliding and folding chairs that move around the back of the cabin in just about every conceivable way.

They fold flat really easily too, so loading is as straightforward as it gets.

In 2013, Vauxhall added its new 1.6-litre diesel engine to the range, which saw the Zafira Tourer drop to a class-leading emissions low of 109g/km with an official 68.9mpg.
