BusinessCar Awards 2015 - City Car: Vauxhall Adam

Date: 27 January 2015

The stylish little Vauxhall has held on to the City Car award it won in 2014, taking the gong from some serious competitors such as the Fiat 500 and Volkswagen Up, both victorious in previous years.

The Adam range has recently been expanded with the faux-4x4 Adam Rocks Air, complete with off-road cladding and a raised ride height. At the same time, Vauxhall launched a new 115hp 1.0-litre engine, becoming the most efficient (and most powerful) engine in the range, with emissions of 114g/km. That will change soon, with the arrival of the new 150hp Adam Grand Slam range-topper due for launch this spring. The lack of popularity of diesel power in this sector means Vauxhall doesn't offer an Adam diesel.

The car provides a lot of personalisation, and Vauxhall claims a million possible combinations of colour, trim and detailing, although it lists the 24 most popular on its website to alleviate a sense of being overwhelmed by choice. The trim level names of Jam, Glam and Slam, as well as the colour choices (Mr Darkside, James Blonde, Papa Don't Peach) make it clear this a car aimed at the young.
