BusinessCar Awards 2015 - Crossover: Hyundai ix35

Date: 27 January 2015

Hyundai's stock has been rising in the corporate arena thanks to rapid improvements in product quality and efficiency, and this year the company achieved its first BusinessCar Award in the crossover segment.

The segment has grown hugely in recent years. Pioneered by the Nissan Qashqai, now plenty of other manufacturers have got in on the act, including last year's winner Skoda with its Yeti.

But it's the ix35 that has captured the imagination of the BusinessCar readership in 2014. Launched in March 2010, it typified the improvements Hyundai was undergoing, as the brand moved from its budget origins towards the mainstream. It is now firmly ensconced in the top 10 fleet manufacturers by volume.

The 1.7-litre diesel is the most popular corporate model, with 139g/km in two-wheel drive form. The top-spec Premium car is the only one available with four-wheel drive and as an automatic.

And the ix35 has more to recommend it: it's the world's first mass-produced hydrogen fuel-cell car, and six vehicles are with paying customers in the UK.
