The start point for the best source of fleet information

BusinessCar Awards 2015 - Premium Supermini: Mini

Date: 27 January 2015

It's been a big year for the Mini, as parent BMW has extended the hatchback's reach by adding a couple more doors to open up the brand to the 70% of sales in this sector that are five-door rather than three.

The addition came with the arrival of the third-generation Mini under BMW stewardship. The three-door was launched in March and the five-door, which is 161mm longer, joined the line-up in October at a price premium of £600.

The new model's fortes are improved refinement and interior quality in particular, while also making efficiency improvements and maintaining much of the Mini's renowned driving pleasure and charm.

But that's not the end of Mini's additions to the new hatchback's line-up. A new Mini One and Mini One D were added late last year, with the excellent One D emitting just 89g/km.

Mini has owned this segment since the first generation of the revived brand, and this is win number 13 in the BusinessCar Awards. With its fleet appeal guaranteed to grow with the arrival of the five-door, there's nothing to say that the brand won't dominate the sector in the future.
