Techies 2013: Best App - Hitachi Capital Mobile Solution App

Date: 20 August 2013

Hitachi's offering is split into the Company Car App and the Grey Fleet App, both downloadable for free via the leasing company.

Operating on the three major smartphone operating systems of Android, Blackberry and iPhone, the Company Car App features an end-of-life damage manager, which prompts drivers six weeks before their contract expires to take photos of any damage the vehicle has suffered, using the app's functionality and the BVRLA's fair wear and tear guidelines to advise on repairs to avoid defleet charges. The app will also allow drivers to book a service and capture the required photographs in the wake of an accident.

The Grey Fleet App enables drivers to input all the data companies need to have on their grey fleet. Drivers then receive a text once a month encouraging them to update the car's recorded mileage, and get annual updates when MoT or insurance needs renewing. Companies can use the reporting facility to help make decisions on more car hire or company cars for higher-mileage users.

Highly Commended was Toyota with its latest app, a free company car tax guide that can deliver annual and three-year driver benefit-in-kind and National Insurance costs for any car, via vehicle registration number or by selecting individual models.
