The start point for the best source of fleet information

Techies 2014: Best Telematics System - ALD Automotive Profleet 2 Fuelmonitor

Date: 26 August 2014

Highly Commended: Satmo, TomTom Webfleet

Having a great telematics system is essential to keep costs down, and accurately monitoring vehicles and their fuel use is a key part in that.

Fuelmonitor, part of ALD Automotive's Profleet, stood out from the crowd due to it providing accurate fuel information for fleets without the need for invasive equipment installed in fuel lines on vehicles.

The software can measure fuel usage, fuel costs, vehicle and driver efficiency as well as CO2 figures. The ProFleet2 system can also help fleets identify cases of fuel fraud by monitoring exactly how much fuel is being put into the vehicle against what is being put on the card. Using this method, fleets could make the switch from applying standard advisory fuel rates for driver reimbursement to taking into account the actual fuel used. This information can then be used to measure against mpg targets, drilling down in detail for each individual driver, the make and model of car, fuel type, and official mpg.

There are two Highly Commendeds. Satmo launched a speeding add-on to its tracking technology this year, allowing fleets to accurately compare drivers' speeds with speed limits. TomTom's Webfleet system impressed due to its self-installed tracking device tech, digital mileage recording, driver behaviour monitoring and customisable fleet management software.
