The Peugeot 3008 is available as both a hybrid and plug-in hybrid – with an all-electric version also available carrying the E-3008 nomenclature. It’s a bonafide family car staple, and for good reason. Its fastback SUV body shape makes it one of the most stylish family cars on the market, too.
Performance and drive
The Hybrid version is the most ‘conventional’ offering in the 3008 range. At its heart is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine mated to a six-speed dual shift automatic transmission, which is assisted by a small electric motor in a mild hybrid set-up. Its efficiency figures are pretty impressive, claiming up to 52.5mpg with CO2 emissions of just 124g/km. We managed to achieve an average of 57mpg over a 170-mile motorway journey.
What’s perhaps most impressive about this three-pot petrol is that it manages to swerve the sometimes lacklustre characteristics of a three-cylinder. It doesn’t let out a stonking roar when you put your foot down, nor does it struggle to pull the 3008’s weight. The way the 3008 switches between petrol and electric power is smooth too, and you’ll get short bouts of all-electric power when noodling around at low speeds.

The 3008 is far from exciting to drive – with somewhat numb steering and a fair bit of body lean in the corners – but for day-to-day driving, it’s perfectly fine. And while its ride is slightly on the firmer side, the Hybrid model is certainly more compliant than the full-electric E-3008.
Interior and tech
The 3008’s cabin showcases Peugeot’s i-Cockpit design excellently. There’s swooping design cues, rows of shortcut buttons and fanciful ambient lighting in spades. The cabin’s massive 21-inch display looks modern, slick, and the graphics are crisp. It’s smart and practical. Perhaps the best thing about the cabin however is the no-nonsense functionality of the infotainment system, specifically the wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. It just works, as they say.
The customisable instrument cluster behind the wheel helps add to the 3008’s techy vibe too. You can stretch your Google Maps display right across your field of view, or you can opt for a more conventional speedo readout.
Standard equipment is impressive overall too, with every 3008 getting sat-nav, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, LED exterior lighting, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and the aforementioned Android Auto and Apple Carplay. If you ask us, the optional 360 degree Vision & Drive Assist Pack is well worth having, as it offers significant peace of mind when parking and helps mitigate any rear blind spots caused by the 3008’s sculpted roofline.

Even with its svelte SUV exterior, the 3008 manages to impress when it comes to boot space. With storage ranging from 520 to 1,480 litres, the 3008 can manage copious amounts of shopping, double prams, and kids bikes with ease. There’s a decent amount of underfloor storage too.
The rear seats are equally as impressive, with tons of head and leg room for adults. Even with two child seats fitted, you’ll still find enough space for an adult to squeeze in the middle seat – just about – and walk from one side of the car to another, thanks to the flat floor.
