Firms warned to guard against numberplate theft

Date: 06 October 2006

Businesses are being warned to guard against vehicle registration plate theft.

Stolen plates are being used on vehicles involved in the theft of fuel from petrol stations, speeding offences and even serious criminal acts.

The warning comes from Hill's Numberplates in Birmingham, which has developed theft-resistant plates to counteract the risk of cloning.
