The start point for the best source of fleet information

Fleet van sales rise past 30,000 mark

Date: 16 August 2006

Van sales passed through the 30,000 point in the first six months of this year despite major upheaval in the LCV market.

All the top light commercial manufacturers have either introduced crucial new product in the first half of the year, or they are building towards a new launch in the second half of 2006.

And yet the status quo is pretty much maintained. The heavy and medium variations of Ford's all-conquering Transit continued to dominate fleet commercial vehicle sales, despite the upheaval of a new model launched in early summer.

The top six manufacturers maintain formation, although Vauxhall and Renault recorded a sales fall and VW headed strongly in the opposite direction.

The first chart change is Nissan's Navara pick-up-fuelled rise taking the marque above Mercedes. Further down, Toyota slides out of the top 10, replaced by Fiat which also jumps LDV due to strong Ducato and Doblo Cargo sales.

Ford closed out the top three in the top 10 models table, thanks to the Connect passing Vauxhall's Combo, the latter down almost 25% year-on-year.
