Ford firms up big two LCV deal
28 June 2006
Ford has extended two of its biggest and most prestigious commercial vehicle contracts. The company's agreement with BT is now in its 20th year, while it has also won back the deal to supply Transit Connects to Royal Mail, following the postal service's shift away to Vauxhall Combos a couple of years ago.
BT reportedly picked the new Transit on whole life costs grounds, with the deal for short- and long-wheelbase vans and chassis cabs due to run until at least next March.
The two-year Royal Mail contract sees the Transit Connect joined by a smaller number of Vauxhall Combo and Fiat Doblo commercial vehicles after a 12-month tender involving six manufacturers.
