GM to enter talks with Renault

Date: 12 July 2006

The board of Vauxhall's parent firm GM has approved talks about a possible tie-up with Renault Nissan.

GM has been suffering a decline in sales and share price and is currently working on a programme to turn the company's fortunes around.

Joining forces with Renault Nissan could form part of a cost cutting and recovery plan. Should a venture come to fruition it could mean future models share some of the same underpinnings.
