Hertz launches Green Collection

Date: 04 October 2006

Rental company Hertz has launched a new initiative aimed at encouraging customers into more environmentally-friendly vehicles.

Called Green Collection, the scheme offers a specific range of vehicles that all emit less than 140g/km of CO2, including Ford Fiesta, Renault Megane and Skoda Octavia diesels.

Customers contact their normal Hertz site where they will be told which models fall under the 140g/km, although there's no extra financial incentive for choosing the eco-friendly cars.

"As manufacturers strive to develop cars with lower emission levels, Hertz is committed to purchasing more vehicles of this calibre," said Bill Jones, vice president of sales and marketing.

Hertz also revealed it is in the process of adding hybrid models to its offering, but there's no word on when they might be available.
