Honda's hot new Civic

Date: 14 September 2006

Honda has revealed the new Civic Type R, which gives the Civic the power to match the already fast looks.

The new version of Honda's user-chooser favourite goes on sale in March 2007 and is powered by a 201PS 2.0-litre petrol engine. The new Type R will have near identical performance figures to the previous generation car - 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 146mph. The three-door model will also give rise to a GT version, which will offer buyers a higher level of standard equipment.

Prices are expected to be revealed closer to the on-sale date.
