Hyundai reinvigorates sagging Sonata

Hyundai has had to rethink its poor-selling Sonata range. Out goes the tax-inefficient 2.4-litre replaced by a powerful 224PS 3.3 V6 and a pair of 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines with a sharp fleet focus.
Interior kit-count is up, with climate control becoming standard across the range, while Smartnav, an integrated stereo and even a leather interior become commonplace across the range.
For the first time the Sonata can now compete for fleet business, offering a diesel that returns a competitive 46.3mpg on the combined cycle, while slotting into the 22% BIK tax bracket. The introduction of the diesel and the dropping of the 2.4 a year after launch highlight the brands continued commitment to fleet.
Prices are up, the 2.0-litre petrol costing £16,995, £500 more than the old 2.4, while the auto-only flagship 3.3 retails at £19,995.
